This section is important for Server solution. Cloud users need not worry about any of this.

  • OS: Debian 10 or 11 on amd64 architecture
  • Redmine: upgradable from version 5.0.5
  • Ruby: 3.1.2
  • Bundler: 2.3.7+
  • Rubygems: 3.3.x
  • Database: Percona/MySQL 8.x
  • redis-server: 5+
  • NodeJS: 18.8

If upgrading from version 11 or lower, please refer to release notes for 12.0 and other 12.x versions as well.

Help desk email sender

New option was added to the HelpDesk sender settings (Help desk >> Settings). Field FROM will contain notification email and First name and Last name of the user.

Why?

Email providers (Google, Microsoft, and many others) are tightening their security policies. One of the restrictions is that the server (SMTP) of the email sender and the declared email sender (FROM) should use the same domain. The email provider may block received emails where SMTP domain and FROM domain do not match.

The new setting ensures this restriction, while the added name of the help desk agent keeps the personal touch. The other settings may or may not comply. Especially in Cloud solution, the SMTP server is from Easy Software, while you are using your own company domains (for users, and help desk mailboxes).

This option does not affect your incoming help desk mailbox. Reply-to, which is the help desk mailbox that processes emails to tickets and comments remain intact.

Changelog

Some smaller changes are listed in the changelog.

The last minor of v12

This version is the last minor release of version 12. There will still be a couple of bug-fixing versions; but any functional changes are now developed into version 13, which will be fully released in September. Information and webinars will be coming during August.
