What is the WBS decomposition?

WBS decomposition, or Work Breakdown Structure decomposition, is the process of breaking down the total scope of a project into smaller, more manageable components in a hierarchical manner. It starts with the overall project goal at the top level and progressively divides the work into major deliverables, sub-deliverables, and finally into detailed work packages or tasks that can be assigned and tracked individually.
